What to Bring to a Chakra Healing Session
The list is short, and it is the same one we give for meditation and reiki:
- Do not eat 2 to 3 hours before the session (light food if you must)
- Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing you can lie down in
- A water bottle to stay hydrated
- A yoga mat or cushion, if you are joining a group circle
- An open mind and heart, ready for self-exploration
Nothing else. You do not need to have read anything about chakras first, and you do not need a position on whether they are real.
Mentally, the preparation is smaller than people expect. Lower the level of expectation you walk in with, and by lowering it you stop grading the session while it is still happening.

What Chakra Healing Is
Chakra healing is a bodywork practice built on an old Indian map of seven energy centres running from the base of the spine to the top of the head.
The practitioner works through those centres in order, with hands on the body or just above it, and stays longer wherever something reads as stuck. Some sessions add sound, some add breath cues, some end with a spoken check-in.
Chakra cleansing and chakra balancing are the other two names for the same appointment. The words are used loosely in Medellin and mostly describe one session.
Nobody has measured a chakra. There is no scan that shows one, and we are not going to pretend otherwise just because we want the booking.
The framework gives you a vocabulary for the body. It is a place to put “my throat closes when I have to say the difficult thing” that does more for you than “I am bad at confrontation.”
It can be that the map does nothing for you and the session is still worth the time, because lying still while somebody pays attention to you is rare. It can also be that the map lands and you start noticing where you hold things. Both are fine, and neither one is treatment.

How Chakra Healing Fits with an Ayahuasca Retreat
Chakra healing sits on either side of a ceremony, and it does a different job in each position.
Before, it is preparation. The week before a ceremony is when people get busy, over-research, and quietly talk themselves out of the whole thing. A session where you lie down and stop steering takes some of that pressure off.

After, it is integration. The comprehensions from a ceremony land over weeks rather than on the night, and the body is usually the last part to catch up. A chakra balancing session in that window gives you somewhere to put what is still moving, without turning it into another conversation.

Who a Chakra Healing Session Suits
Chakra healing suits people who want to be worked on rather than talked at.
Two types show up for it. The first has been in their head for months, reading, planning, comparing retreats. They have not been in their body since a bad yoga class years ago. For that person the session is a way back in through the side door.
The second has already sat in a ceremony and is in the odd stretch afterwards where things keep surfacing. For them it is maintenance, and it can also be a way to notice what has already moved.
There is also a third, quieter group. Some people are curious about ayahuasca and not ready to book a retreat. A chakra healing session is a small, low-stakes way to find out how they respond to being held in a container at all.
Who Should Not Book a Chakra Healing Session
Do not book this if you are looking for treatment of a medical or psychiatric condition. It is not that.
If you are in crisis, or managing bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or a seizure disorder, the first call is a doctor and a therapist. We will say that on the consultation rather than take the booking.
Skip it too if you want proof. The framework has no measurement behind it, and if that bothers you, an ice bath or a meditation class gives you something more concrete for the same evening.
One thing would change our recommendation entirely. If anyone sold you a chakra balancing session as a replacement for medication, or as a cure for a named condition, we would tell you to walk away. The same goes for a fixed package of sessions promised to fix a fixed problem.
